Hope you're having a nice BC Day long weekend! During our busy July meeting, I forgot to photograph a tiny-but-charming fountain pen that Christopher brought for our meeting theme, "Birthday Pens". Fortunately, he sent in this write up a few days afterwards. Our thanks to Christopher for sharing it with us, in person and via this review!

Christopher writes:
"On an annual basis, my dear wife Chris does me
proud with a birthday gift, which often is a total surprise. God only
knows where she finds these treasures, but one year, I unwrapped possibly
the smallest gift that has ever come my way. Granted, I was familiar
with the Salz Bros. Pen company and even had a few of their more tiny
children’s writing instruments, but this one just blew me away.
Measuring only 2 ½ inches capped and 3 1/8 inches posted, the quality
and detail in the filigree 18K Gold filled overlay was simply stunning.
This overlay was covering a black vulcanized rubber barrel, which
sported a black vulcanized rubber grip section. But out of this section,
was the most delicate and equally well made 14K Gold nib. Definitely
not a pen to write a book with, but for a few lines of script, there was
enough flex in that nib to make any calligrapher happy. This pen is an
eyedropper and was referred to as the Peter Pan, ‘Baby’. Still, I have a
feeling that the ladies of the day looked at it more like jewelry since
the quality was so impressive. The Peter Pan, Salz Bros. Line of pens
was extensive, with a very big range from the more reasonable to the
somewhat expensive. Today, a gold overlay as such can fetch a tidy sum, but
for me it is going into the traveling department of my pen collection."
